Pennsylvania is the sixth-most-populous state in the United States, with a population of 12.8 million. It is also one of the most diverse states in America, with over 80 cities and towns with over 10,000 people. Pennsylvania’s largest city is Philadelphia, which has a population of 1.5 million and is home to Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed; the Liberty Bell; and the United States Constitution.

The other major cities include Pittsburgh (the Steel City), Allentown (the “Queen City”), Erie (the “Gem City”), Bethlehem (the “Christmas City”), and Lancaster (the “Amish Country”). Other notable cities include Reading and Scranton.

Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh is the largest city in Pennsylvania and is located in the southwestern part of the state. The city is home to a number of professional sports teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers (NFL) and the Pittsburgh Pirates (MLB).

Other popular attractions include the Carnegie Science Center, the Andy Warhol Museum, and the Phipps Conservatory.

Hershey

Hershey, PA is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Pennsylvania. The town is most famous for its chocolate, which can be found at the Hershey’s Chocolate World attraction.

Hershey also has an amusement park, Hersheypark, and a number of museums, including the Hershey Museum and the National Civil War Museum.

Lancaster

Lancaster is a city located in south-central Pennsylvania. The city is home to a number of historical sites, including the Central Market (the oldest farmers market in the country), the Liberty Bell replica, and Strasburg Rail Road (the oldest continuously operated railroad in the world).

Lancaster is also home to Dutch Wonderland, an amusement park geared towards younger children, as well as the Landis Valley Museum, which chronicles the history of Pennsylvania Dutch culture.

Reading

Reading is located about 90 miles northwest of Philadelphia and is one of Pennsylvania’s oldest cities. Reading has a rich history dating back to 1664 when William Penn first settled here with his wife Hannah Callowhill Penn. The city also has plenty of great museums like the Reading Public Museum and Berks County Heritage Center & Old Jail Museum (which offers ghost tours!).

Reading also hosts several festivals throughout the year like Reading Beer Fest or Berks Jazz Fest.

Allentown

Allentown is located just northwest of Philadelphia and has plenty to see and do. The city has a rich history dating back to the 1800s, and it’s home to a variety of popular attractions like the Allentown Art Museum, Zoellner Arts Center, and PPL Center (home of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms).
